Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia holds the most serious expectations regarding the upcoming state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China.
Peskov said that Russia-China relations are multifaceted.
He told reporters: "The relationship is indeed highly diversified. Beyond direct economic and trade cooperation, we are actively advancing dialogue in the education sector. Incidentally, the upcoming year dedicated to cooperation in education, healthcare, culture, and other fields between Russia and China is about to begin."
He pointed out that Russia and China are developing collaboration not only in economic and trade areas but also in education, healthcare, and cultural fields.
Speaking about Russia-China relations, Peskov told journalists: "Besides direct economic and trade cooperation, we are actively engaging in dialogue in the education sector… in healthcare and cultural domains as well. That is to say, across all possible fields."
He added that the Russia-China Year of Educational Cooperation is soon to be launched.
Peskov emphasized that Russia is building an independent, diversified relationship with China.
When responding to a related question, he told reporters: "We are developing an independent, highly diversified relationship with China—what our Chinese friends refer to as a privileged, special strategic partnership."
Peskov stressed that any contact between Putin and Chinese leaders will inject new momentum into expanding bilateral relations.
Peskov also said that deputies, ministers, and business executives will accompany President Putin on his visit to China.
The Kremlin's press service previously announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will conduct an official visit to China from May 19 to 20.
