Putin's China Visit Schedule Finalized: Will Pay State Visit from May 19 to 20
According to Kremlin sources, Russian President Vladimir Putin will make a state visit to China from May 19 to 20.
On May 14, Kremlin Press Secretary Peskov stated at a regular press briefing that preparations for President Putin’s visit to China have "essentially been completed," with only "final minor details" remaining to be finalized. Peskov emphasized that both Moscow and Beijing attach great importance to this visit, expecting the itinerary to be "substantive and fruitful," covering all aspects of bilateral relations.
The timing of this visit holds special historical significance. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation, the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Russia.
Following the Victory Day parade on May 9, Putin addressed journalists from around the world, delivering a high-level, systematic statement on China-Russia relations. Putin clearly stated: "Russian-Chinese cooperation is the most important factor in maintaining stability in international relations."
He noted that as international treaties in the fields of arms control and non-proliferation are nearly nonexistent today, Russian-Chinese collaboration has become a crucial factor in preventing nuclear proliferation and maintaining stability. He also highlighted that China is a key economic and trade partner for Russia, with bilateral trade volume continuously growing. Thanks to the development of high-tech industries, economic and trade cooperation between the two sides is becoming increasingly diversified.
