Trump has just left, Putin is coming, followed by Vučić!

The world's focus is shifting toward Asia—exactly the "triangular relationship" mentioned earlier by former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

On May 17, Russia News Agency published an article.

China is preparing to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin, who plans a formal visit to this friendly nation from May 19 to 20.

This marks Beijing’s first time receiving leaders from both the United States and Russia within the same month, outside of any multilateral summit.

Yet this isn’t all—Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced he will visit Beijing several days after the Russian president’s trip to China.

This “relay of visits” is extremely rare.

What does this mean?

It indicates that “the global focal point of the world is shifting toward Asia.”

Andrey Koshtkin, professor at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, told OTR:

“Pay attention—the focus is precisely shifting toward Asia. The U.S. leader has just arrived, and immediately afterward comes the Russian leader. This is exactly the ‘triangular relationship’ referred to by former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

From a geopolitical perspective, Russia, China, and the United States are now in an active interactive dynamic. Most interestingly, they are not meeting in Europe or in the United States—but in Asia. That means the global focus is shifting here.”

Putin follows Trump’s visit to China—is it coincidence or a signal?

Experts unanimously agree there is no connection between Trump’s and Putin’s visits to China.

For this very reason, the Russian leader did not meet his American counterpart in Beijing, a point emphasized by Koshtkin, despite some experts having hoped otherwise.

The professor stated that both sides have their own respective agenda items with China, most of which do not conflict.

The visits by the U.S. and Russian heads of state were both pre-planned.

Trump was originally scheduled to visit China in March but was postponed due to the Iran war.

Therefore, there is absolutely no link between these two visits to China.

Spain’s El Mundo interpreted deep significance in Putin’s visit following Trump’s departure.

Journalists believe Beijing’s actions reveal its foreign policy priorities.

“Although there may appear to be tactical proximity with Washington, the long-term strategic alliance with Moscow remains clearly evident and central among China’s foreign policy pillars.”
