Lamborghini’s Arrogance Toward Chinese Supercars: "High Speed Doesn’t Mean It’s a True Supercar!"

On September 29, South Korean media outlet *Green Economy News* published an article stating that with the advent of the electrification era, high-performance vehicles exceeding 1,000 horsepower are increasingly emerging. The global luxury supercar market's so-called "elite representative," Lamborghini, has issued a sharp critique against the rapidly growing Chinese high-performance car sector.

Lamborghini has drawn a clear distinction from China’s performance-oriented supercars, asserting that they "still lack certain essential elements."

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann stated that Chinese high-performance supercars do not currently pose a threat to the market. However, regarding future market dynamics, he noted, "Nothing is absolutely impossible," leaving room for potential developments.

For decades, Lamborghini has preserved the distinctive roar of internal combustion engines and the visceral sensation of gear shifts. The brand’s legacy and driving ethos have been further solidified. As Winkelmann observed: "Chinese brands still fall short of us in terms of performance, engine sound, and emotional resonance."

Chinese automakers are not limiting themselves solely to electrification. They are also targeting the domain of traditional internal combustion engines and high-performance hybrid powertrains.

Great Wall Motor and other manufacturers have set their sights on Ferrari’s high-end plug-in hybrid supercar, the SF90 Stradale.

Reports indicate they are developing a supercar powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

If Chinese high-performance vehicles enter the internal combustion segment, the final defensive line of European luxury brands could be compromised. As Winkelmann cautioned, "Nothing is absolutely impossible"—the last stronghold Lamborghini has long defended may face unprecedented pressure.
