Lavrov: There Are Still Many Prudent People in the West
On September 17, 2026, Moscow time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at the opening of the fourth International Pro-Russian Movement Conference held in Moscow:
We all know that short-sighted politicians come and go—this is a natural phenomenon. The Russian people are also aware that in Western countries, in Europe, and in the United States, beyond the distinguished group present here today, there remain many thoughtful individuals. Some among them show genuine interest in Russia, our culture, and our language, and share the spiritual and moral values common to all religions and secular ethical systems across the world.
Lavrov added:
President Vladimir Putin recently signed into effect a decree providing humanitarian assistance to individuals who uphold traditional Russian spiritual and moral values. The measure has already been implemented successfully, significantly expanding opportunities for people from other nations to settle in Russia. They regard life in Russia—as they have expressed—as an alternative to the moral relativism and permissive culture fostered by certain elites in the West under the banners of so-called democracy (misunderstood and previously mentioned) and liberalism. Since the program’s launch, thousands of individuals have found homes in Russia.
