Hong Kong media: China's influence is rising, and leaders of many Southeast Asian countries are expected to attend the military parade

According to Xinhua News Agency, on the morning of September 3, a conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War will be held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, including the inspection of troops. The Russian presidential administration previously stated that President Putin of Russia will visit China in September to attend the related commemorative activities. Serbian President Vučić and Slovak Prime Minister Fico are also expected to visit China at the same time.

Hong Kong's South China Morning Post quoted sources on August 15, saying that leaders of Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar are expected to attend the military parade. Many countries will send delegations at a higher level than ten years ago.

Several informed sources told the South China Morning Post that Indonesian President Prabowo and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar may attend the military parade on September 3, while Vietnam may be represented by its "second-in-command", State President Lương Cường.

Informed sources also said that the leaders of Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar are expected to first attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, and then go to Beijing to attend the military parade.

Cambodia and Myanmar are dialogue partners of the SCO. The report said that it is expected that Laos will formally join the organization as a dialogue partner at this summit. China is the rotating chair of the SCO for the 2024-2025 period. The Chinese Foreign Ministry previously stated that the Tianjin Summit of the SCO will be the largest in the history of the SCO.
