Foreign Media: Chinese aviation engineers have announced the first jet-powered high-speed vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone, which is considered to be the world's first, and has the potential to change naval combat patterns, enabling each warship to have functions similar to an aircraft carrier.

This drone is powered by a jet engine, capable of high-speed flight and vertical take-off and landing, allowing it to take off and land from any warship, greatly enhancing the flexibility and combat capabilities of the navy.

The project was developed by a research team from Beihang University over 10 years. Unlike the US military's XQ-58A "Valkyrie," which requires a long runway or an aircraft carrier, this aircraft combines vertical lift with jet-powered high-speed flight in one, with an aerodynamically optimized design, enabling destroyers, frigates, and amphibious ships to have "small aircraft carrier" capabilities.

The team stated in a paper published on July 15 in the journal "Aerospace Weapons" that its speed far exceeds existing mainstream VTOL drones.
