Trump says he is looking forward to a positive response from Hamas to the peace plan
US President Trump said on the 29th that he expects the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to make a positive response to his proposed Gaza peace plan, but at the same time warned that if Hamas refuses, Israel will receive "full support" from the US.
Trump said during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House: "Other parties have already agreed (to the plan), but I feel we will get a positive response. If not, as you know, Israel may receive strong support to take its necessary actions."
Trump pointed out that according to the peace plan, Arab and Muslim countries have committed to dismantling Hamas' military capabilities in the Gaza Strip.
President of the United States said: "Arab and Muslim countries have pledged to disarm Hamas and all other terrorist organizations in Gaza."
He added that resolving the Gaza conflict should be part of "achieving a broader peace in the Middle East."
Trump emphasized: "This is a historic day toward peace... let's call it permanent peace in the Middle East."
The White House released the 20-point Gaza peace plan earlier this week.
