The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced that Uzbekistan is determined to combat early marriage within the country.
Proposed measures include a reward of 15% of the fine amount for reporting marriages involving individuals under the age of 16.
Uzbekistan also plans to implement additional financial support measures for citizens aged 21 and older.
Mirziyoyev pointed out, "In our country, 40% of marriages occur at the age of 18-19, while international recommendations define 21 as the most appropriate age for marriage."
