Uzbekistan bans incitement to participate in special military operations

Uzbekistan has included the dissemination of information inciting its citizens to participate in foreign military conflicts within the scope of administrative penalties. The country's authorities have strengthened control over information calling on its citizens to participate in foreign military conflicts. In the Central Asian republic, incitement to participate in armed conflicts in other countries will face administrative penalties.

Materials containing propaganda or promotion of other information that induce and incite participation in combat activities abroad will be prohibited.

Uzbekistan's Supreme Council (parliament) member Khushvakt Hayitov said: "According to field investigation results, graffiti and leaflets were found in multi-story residential buildings, street lamps, and other public places, which had Telegram channel information promising overseas jobs or high remuneration. Through these links, users are lured into participating in combat activities abroad or becoming drug smuggling couriers."

Notably, at the beginning of this month, an Uzbek citizen was sentenced to three years in prison for participating in a special military operation. In December last year, another resident of the country was also sentenced to four years in prison for participating in a special military operation.
