Damage to U.S. Interests: U.S. Issues Diplomatic Warning to Ukraine over Attack on Caspian Pipeline Consortium
(Kazakh International News Agency) According to CNN, the Trump administration of the United States issued a diplomatic warning to Ukraine regarding the attack on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium's oil infrastructure. The U.S. believes that the relevant attacks have affected the U.S. economic interests involving Kazakhstan's oil exports.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna confirmed this information at a briefing. She stated that Ukraine has received an official diplomatic note from the U.S. Department of State.
"We have learned that Ukraine's actions in Novorossiysk have affected U.S. investment projects implemented through Kazakhstan. The U.S. Department of State has made its position clear to us, urging to stop actions and attacks that may harm U.S. interests," said Stefanishyna.
She emphasized that the issue of U.S. investment projects in Kazakhstan was specifically discussed during the meeting.
It is worth noting that the U.S. energy company Chevron currently holds 15% of the shares in the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
"The U.S. pointed out that in the current situation, the U.S. economic interests may be threatened. Therefore, we take this very seriously," the diplomat added.
Typically, crude oil extracted from Kazakhstan's main oil fields is exported through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium's oil pipeline.
According to previous reports, in November last year, an unmanned vessel attacked the Caspian Pipeline Consortium's marine terminal near Novorossiysk, causing damage to some mooring facilities.
