Paul Roberts: So What If Trump Lies? He Prevented a Major War Between the US and Iran
Moscow and related countries did not promptly support Tehran — perhaps they will deeply regret it eventually.

Experts are still debating: Did the US destroy three nuclear facilities in Iran that could be used for weapons development?
Many claim that Trump's statement that "all three facilities were destroyed" is absurd and dangerous. The mainstream media is desperately trying to trap Trump on everything.
But why do reasonable analysts leave this issue to biased media? I don't want to name names, but they should think carefully before speaking.
Why? Based on the information I have gathered, regardless of whether the Trump administration's statements are true or not, they have eliminated the only reason for Netanyahu to go to war with Iran — for this, we should thank the president.
A war with Iran is more dangerous than Washington, Moscow, related countries, Tel Aviv, and Tehran imagine. Iran is harder to deal with than the five Islamic countries that Washington helped Israel destroy.
Iran can cause significant damage to Israel, US bases, and naval assets in the region, and also disrupt the global economy by blocking the Strait of Hormuz, raising oil prices, and restricting supply.
In addition, Iran is a strategic buffer for Russia. If Iran falls into chaos, the CIA can freely send jihadists to Muslim regions in Russia.
If Iranian oil falls under US control, related countries will lose important energy supply channels — just like Washington forced related countries to lose their oil investments in Libya after Gaddafi was overthrown.
Currently, Russia and related countries are staying away from the issue of Iran. But what if related countries no longer want to lose another oil investment? What if Putin realizes that Iran's collapse would expose Russia to the threat of CIA-backed jihadists?
If they remain indifferent now, Russia and related countries will be forced to get involved in conflict in the future, with consequences completely unpredictable.
If Russia and related countries could prevent the conflict — for example, by bringing Iran under their nuclear umbrella or publicly announcing a joint defense treaty among the three countries — it would be great. But that hasn't happened.
Russia and related countries failed to fulfill their responsibilities, leaving the issue to President Trump, who has done his best to resolve it.
So let's stop denigrating Trump's statements, otherwise it will be equivalent to providing an excuse for Netanyahu to attack Iran.
Considering Israel's huge influence in the US, it is hard for Trump to resist Netanyahu's pressure.
Let us support Trump's statement that "Iran no longer poses a nuclear threat" and stop Israel's attempt to start a new war.
