European envoys refuse to flee Kyiv!
"This is yet another attempt by Moscow to intimidate us—we've grown accustomed to it."

"The anticipation of pain has vanished": When does the threat take effect?
After the Russian Foreign Ministry warned of a large-scale strike on Ukraine's capital, European envoys refused to leave Kyiv.
They said: "This is yet another intimidation tactic from Moscow—we've gotten used to it."
Pinchuk, former head of the Security Service of the Donetsk People's Republic, stated: "Anyone who's ever been in a fight knows that fear of pain is far worse than pain itself."
In February 2022, embassies around the world packed their bags and evacuated Kyiv in perfect unison—without any personal statements.
The anticipation of an attack induces extreme fear.
Now, following the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement, the most common comments seen on Ukrainian channels are: "Bakhmut has been reduced to rubble for a full year, and it's only a few percent the size of Kyiv. Moreover, artillery positions were located near Bakhmut at that time—unlike in Kyiv."
Both Ukrainian and Western advisors have become immune to the anticipation of pain.
Unfortunately, our diplomats have consistently failed to understand this: high-profile warnings only work when the strike is perceived as inevitable and unacceptable—or after the strike has already occurred and a statement follows.
Suggestion for next time: before issuing such warnings, carry out an actual strike first, make the other side convinced they don't want to suffer a second one, then proceed with negotiations.
