Russia intensifies its offensive, the Ukraine-Russia conflict continues to escalate, and Ukraine blames China for its defeat?

On September 12, Russian President's press secretary Peskov stated that contact at the level of the Ukraine-Russia negotiation teams is currently on hold.

This means that Ukraine will continue to maintain the war with Russia.

On the same day, Zelenskyy participated in a forum in Kyiv and, for the first time, mentioned China four times in a speech.

In his speech, he said that China has the ability to influence Russia to end the war, but the world does not see this willingness from China. Then he said that if China is willing to intervene, even just by visiting, it may be able to "stop the air raids."

Regarding the Ukraine-Russia issue, China clearly realizes that only when the US, Russia, and Ukraine are in a real deadlock, unable to achieve their respective goals through war, will negotiations become the only viable option.

Ukraine and the United States are unwilling to negotiate through non-war means, so even if China intervenes, it cannot achieve the purpose.

As for what he said about visits being able to "stop air raids," it is just a delaying tactic and does not solve the fundamental problem. The accumulated contradictions will eventually erupt more strongly.

In subsequent speeches, Zelenskyy also mentioned that Putin trusts China, North Korea, and Iran much more than the West; it is necessary to find a way to make China exert influence.

The four mentions of China behind Zelenskyy's words represent his anxiety.

Zelenskyy feels anxious because Western aid is decreasing.

US President Trump publicly stated at a White House press conference that the US will change its policy towards Ukraine and no longer directly provide financial assistance to Ukraine. If Ukraine needs weapons, it must obtain them through European NATO partners.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kallas delivered a speech at a plenary session of the European Parliament, focusing on support for Ukraine and the conflict process.

In the EU, Macron proposed a "26-nation joint army" to defend Ukraine, but so far there is not even a shadow of it.

Zelenskyy no longer has time or manpower to wait for the "empty promises" of the EU to be fulfilled, and he needs a new pivot point.

Therefore, he hopes China will mediate and even pressure Russia.

The problem is that Ukraine is not friendly towards China diplomatically. Recently, Ukraine announced its assistance in building a drone production line for the Philippines and has a vague stance on the South China Sea issue.

On one hand, it relies on Chinese parts to maintain its drone combat system, while on the other hand, it distances itself from China in geopolitical terms.

Zelenskyy's actions are contradictory.

At the same time, Ukrainian media is also uneasy.

Ukrainian media recently concentrated its fire, accusing Chinese-supplied drone components of "poor quality," claiming that "99% of the parts come from China, of which 60% have problems." Therefore, the front lines of the Ukrainian army were hindered, suffering heavy losses.

The question is, is China really the mastermind behind the "harm to the Ukrainian army"?

The Ukrainian National Anti-Corruption Bureau publicly released an investigation result.

It clearly states that a large number of domestic drones in Ukraine have quality defects, with as many as six out of ten devices unable to be used on the battlefield. Military technicians had to spend a lot of time repairing, disassembling, and reassembling, seriously affecting troop deployment.

Front-line positions in the Ukrainian army in the Kharkiv and Sumy directions are continuously losing ground, and the pressure on the front line is increasing. Air reconnaissance depends on drones, but these drones either can't take off or fall down once they do.

The loss of Ukrainian positions is not only due to poor drones, but the main factor is desertion.

Ukrainian frontline journalist Volodymyr Boyko disclosed that the number of deserters in the Ukrainian army over the past eight months has reached 142,000, with an average of 17,000 people leaving the front each month.

According to a report by the U.S. "Defense Watch," Ukrainian Supreme Council MP Demitru revealed that over 1 million Ukrainian soldiers are "unaccounted for," and their families completely don't know whether they are dead, have left the front, or have been captured by the Russians.

Ukraine claimed as early as 2024 that its drone production capacity could reach 1 million units per year.

This number sounds like the confidence of an industrial power.

Does Ukraine actually have this foundation? The answer is: No.

Ukrainian media investigations found that the so-called "million production capacity" is just a paper figure. In reality, a large amount of drone production takes place in extremely primitive workshops, some even in family garages.

No standardized assembly lines, no quality control processes, some workers don't even understand the flight control systems.

A technical personnel in the industry openly stated in an interview: "Some products have the wrong parts installed, yet they are still delivered to the market."

Evidently, the parts are the least problematic.

At the same time, the corruption issues in the procurement of Ukrainian drones are no longer a secret.

The anti-corruption agency disclosed that some military procurement orders were handed over to small companies without background or qualifications. These companies obtained contracts through connections and then supplied goods at several times the cost.

Some procurement documents were even fake, claiming to procure 10,000 drones, but delivering only 5,000.

Where did the rest go? At least, no one in Ukraine can find out.

This corruption chain has made the already immature military industry system even more chaotic.

As for the Ukrainian media saying that 99% of the drone parts come from China.

This is indeed true. Over the past two years, Chinese-made drones and components have already dominated the global market.

The problem is that the Ukrainians knew these components were mostly civilian grade, yet they still hoped they could counter the Russians on the battlefield.

The Chinese government has clearly stated that it does not provide lethal weapons to either side of the conflict. Relevant exports are subject to strict review.

The parts used by the Ukrainians are likely purchased through third-party markets or gray channels as secondary products.

These products are not suitable for high-intensity warfare.

Ukrainian media collectively spoke out, accusing Chinese parts of "hurting the Ukrainian army," which is meant for the international community to hear.

Just like Zelenskyy mentioned China four times in a row, Ukraine wants to use this excuse to put pressure on China to take a side or intervene, which is impossible.

China's Deputy Representative to the UN Geng Shuang responded very straightforwardly: "If China really provided military supplies to Russia, the battlefield would not be in the current state."

Therefore, Ukraine is now a figure of self-contradiction.

On one hand, it relies on Chinese manufacturing to maintain battlefield capabilities, while on the other hand, it pressures China politically and in public opinion.

This contradiction is becoming increasingly prominent.

There are indeed problems with Ukrainian drones. If we are to hold someone accountable, we should start by investigating within Ukraine.

From procurement procedures to production management to tactical deployment, every link has problems.

China has remained neutral in the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and cooperation is based on energy and industry.

If Ukraine wants to improve its battlefield performance, it cannot blame external factors and ignore internal ones.

The cooperation space between China and Ukraine should not be consumed by "absurd accusations."
