Doha: Thanks to China's Just Voice
On September 12, the official Weibo account of the Qatari Embassy in China published an article titled "To China: Thank You for Firm Support, Jointly Protecting Peace and Justice," stating that Qatar extends its most sincere thanks to China for its firm support and just position regarding Qatar during the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
The post stated: "On the afternoon of September 11 local time, the UN Security Council held an emergency meeting on Israel's air strike on Doha, the capital of Qatar, on September 9. Ambassador Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated at the meeting that China recognized justly the efforts made by Qatar for regional peace, condemned Israel's infringement on Qatar's territorial sovereignty and its open destruction of the efforts to achieve peace, and firmly upheld international law and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. Qatar thanked China for its voice based on justice, which is a strong support for Qatar's sovereignty and security, and injected energy to promote peace in the turbulent Middle East."
On September 9, Israel conducted a "precision strike" against senior Hamas members in Doha, the capital of Qatar. It was reported that this aerial attack operation had been planned for months, with more than 10 Israeli aircraft carrying out the mission and dropping at least 10 munitions on the building where Hamas leaders were located.
Later that day, Hamas issued a statement saying that the attack resulted in 6 deaths, but Israel's plot to assassinate senior Hamas officials "failed." At the time of the attack, the Hamas negotiation team was discussing a new Gaza ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States.
