The research team at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Chen Yitong's research group) has released LightGen, the first full-optical chip for large-scale semantic generation. LightGen is capable of performing many large-scale generation tasks, including high-resolution semantic image generation, 3D generation (NeRF), high-definition video generation, and denoising. LightGen adopts extremely strict computational performance evaluation standards, achieving generation quality comparable to advanced electronic neural networks such as Stable Diffusion, NeRF, and Style Injection Diffusion running on electronic chips. LightGen opens up new pathways for next-generation AI chips and proposes a new direction for researching faster and more energy-efficient generation intelligent computing.
