Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory Sets Record for Export Volume in 2 Years, Model Y Surges by 214%!

On December 9, the Korean media outlet "Seoul Economic Daily" published an article stating that the vehicle export volume from Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has set a new monthly record over the past two years.

According to the information, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory exported approximately 35,000 vehicles overseas in October, setting a new record for the highest monthly export volume since 2022.

The flagship model, Model Y, saw its export volume increase by 214% year-on-year.

A Tesla spokesperson said: "Vehicles produced at the Shanghai factory are exported to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region at the beginning of each quarter. This indicates that Tesla's global market competitiveness remains strong. The locally produced Model Y in China has received positive feedback in Europe and South Korea, and the price competitiveness brought by local production is also a major advantage."

The Chinese-made Model Y is about 20 million Korean won (approximately 97,000 RMB) cheaper than the U.S.-made version, and it sells well in Asian markets including South Korea.

Meanwhile, Tesla's sales in China seem to have slowed down. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, Tesla's car sales in China fell by 9.9% in October, reaching 61,479 units.
