Kazakhstan Strengthens the Status of the National Language: President Stresses that the National Language Must Gradually Become a Cross-Ethnic Communication Language
The Kazakh International News Agency reported on April 26, the 34th Congress of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan was held at the Independence Palace in the capital. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the meeting.
President Tokayev once again emphasized that the national language must gradually become a cross-ethnic communication language, but this is a continuously evolving stage. The task of expanding the scope of use of the national language will be addressed in a balanced and rational manner. Any attempts to politicize or provoke issues related to language will be stopped.
Editor's Note: Russian is currently the inter-ethnic communication language in Kazakhstan.
