Survey: About 30% of German Companies Delayed Investments in the US Due to Trump Tariffs

A survey by the German research institute Ifo found that more than 60% of German companies said that US tariffs would have a negative impact on their business, and about 30% of companies had delayed investments in the US.

The institution said, "More than 60% of the surveyed companies said that (US President) Trump's tariffs would have a negative impact on them. Nearly the same number of companies are worried that due to the US trade policy, the competitive pressure from Chinese enterprises will increase."

The survey found that about one-third of the surveyed companies expected that by the end of Trump's term, the US market would be less important to them.

The survey stated, "The economic policies of the Trump administration also affected the investment plans of German companies: about 30% of companies with relevant plans postponed investments in the US. About 15% of companies have completely canceled their investments in the US."

The survey was conducted in June, and approximately 1,500 German industrial companies participated.
