Qatar to Begin Recruiting Foreigners for Military Service
The Qatari Ministry of Defense announced on social media platform X that the Qatari government has approved the recruitment of foreigners born in Qatar and holding residence permits for active military service.
The Qatari Ministry of Defense stated: "Children of Qatari mothers and foreign nationals born in Qatar now have the right to enlist, expanding opportunities for military service in Qatar."
According to the ministry’s requirements, candidates must be at least 18 years old, physically fit, of good character, with a clean reputation and no criminal record.
They will be allowed to serve for five years, with salaries reaching up to 7,000 riyals (approximately $1,900). Upon completion of their service, they may continue serving in the military and obtain permanent residency.
Previously, only citizens with Qatari nationality were eligible to serve in the Qatari Armed Forces. Children of Qatari mothers and foreign fathers did not have the right to acquire Qatari nationality.
