Czech President Petr Pavel stated at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that, due to the ammunition procurement initiative launched by the Czech side, the ratio of artillery shells on the front lines of the Russia-Ukraine war has narrowed from an originally larger gap to 1:2.
"We are doing everything in our power to ensure that Russia's battlefield advantage is weakened. We are clear that it is because of our initiative that the situation has changed," Pavel said.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy also highly praised this cooperation and pointed out that Ukraine is expected to obtain another 1.8 million artillery shells through this initiative this year. He described this Czech-led international procurement mechanism as "working very well."
Pavel also added that the Czech side has already begun negotiations for next year's ammunition supply. He stated that if the war ends by then, those ammunitions will be used to replenish Ukraine's arsenal.
