Poland's Economic Experts: 30% Tariffs by the US Will Hinder Poland's Exports to the US
On the 14th, Wasiński, an expert from the Institute of Economic Research in Poland, stated that the plan of the United States to impose a 30% tariff on EU goods may cause Poland's exports to the US to stop, resulting in significant negative impacts.
Expert Wasiński from the Institute of Economic Research in Poland: Assuming a trade war between the US and the EU, with mutual tariffs of 20%, this could lead to a loss of 0.33% in Poland's GDP in the short term, i.e., within one or two years. A 30% tariff is not even in our calculation range. It seems that such high tariffs would likely prevent our exports to the US, so the impact could be quite significant.
Wasiński said that the additional tariffs imposed by the US have brought export pressure to Poland. In the context of increased trade uncertainty, they need not only to boost domestic demand but also to seek and develop more stable new markets globally.
Expert Wasiński from the Institute of Economic Research in Poland: We can seek to sign free trade agreements to promote the EU's exports to other regions. We not only need to open up new markets globally, but also rely on the domestic market of our country, and boost domestic demand through increased investment.
