Poland's Ministry of Defense: The production of 155mm shells will increase 39 times by 2028
Deputy Minister of the Poland's Ministry of Defense Tomczyk said in a speech to the parliament that the production of large-caliber shells will increase 39 times before 2028.
Previously, Dariusz Łukowski, Director of the Polish National Security Bureau, stated that Poland's reserve of large-caliber ammunition could last one to two weeks in a war.
Tomczyk said that about 5,000 shells are fired daily in the Ukraine-Russia conflict, while Poland's production capacity is 5,000 per year.
At the end of 2024, Poland's Minister of Defense, Kaczyński-Kameš, allocated 2 billion zlotys (about 500,000 USD) for the construction of a factory producing 155mm shells.
Tomczyk said that due to the construction of new ammunition factories, by 2028, they will produce 1,000 pieces of ammunition per day. That is, considering the production time, about 200,000 per year.
Tomczyk pointed out that by 2028, Poland will achieve self-sufficiency in ammunition production.
