Peter Szijjarto said it was Europe that ruined the peace in Ukraine

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated that if it were not for Europeans blocking the peace initiative of former US President Donald Trump, the special military operation in Ukraine might have already ended.

According to a report by Russian Sputnik news agency cited by Georgian TV channel Rustavi 2, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto believes that if European countries had not intervened in the efforts of former US President Donald Trump, the conflict in Ukraine would have ended more quickly.

The Hungarian minister said: "After the meeting between Russian and US presidents in Anchorage, when President Zelenskyy went to Washington, European leaders accompanied him like 'nannies'. This was humiliating for President Zelenskyy. From an observer's perspective, this is obvious, as it shows that the 'guardians' cannot let the 'patient' be alone."

When asked about what results this led to, Szijjarto said that the above actions fueled the escalation of militarization, because it was clear that EU leaders accompanied Zelenskyy to Washington to prevent a peace agreement from being reached.

He said: "They came to stop President Trump from convincing Zelenskyy that the war needed to end. The Europeans went to Washington to delay the war, and unfortunately they succeeded, because the war continued."

Hungarian Foreign Minister is confident that without the interference of European politicians, the conflict in Ukraine could have ended much earlier.

According to a previous report by Gondolat, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the country would not participate in the action of European countries sending troops to Ukraine. Orbán pointed out that such steps would lead to direct military conflicts with Russia.
