Israel launches the world's leading spy satellite!

The launch caused a "brief panic," with residents mistakenly believing it was an intercept missile.

Reported by U.S. Space News on September 3.

This satellite will be used by the Israeli military to collect visual intelligence across the entire Middle East region.

Israel launched an Ofek 19 spy satellite at 10:30 PM local time on September 2.

Although the launch of the spy satellite was successful, it was not without challenges.

According to The Times of Israel, this undisclosed launch "caused a brief panic in Tel Aviv and central Israel,

residents mistook the satellite for an intercept missile."

Since the deadly terrorist attack in Israel in 2023, Israel has been at war with Gaza,

during which it has launched ballistic missiles and rockets to attack the country.

Israel's satellite will be used by the military to collect visual intelligence across the entire Middle East region.

Ofek 19 is designed to provide images of objects as small as 50 centimeters on the ground.

Israeli defense officials praised this mission:

"The launch of the 'Ofek 19' satellite yesterday was an achievement at the highest global level, few countries have these capabilities."

"This also sends a message to all our enemies,

wherever they are — we are always watching you, no matter what the situation is."

Ofek 19 is a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite,

which can provide detailed, high-resolution images of Earth's objects,

and can penetrate to the Earth's surface through clouds and under various lighting conditions.
