The member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization strongly condemned the United States and Israel's attacks on Iran in June 2025, pointing out that destroying nuclear infrastructure in military conflicts is not allowed. This was elaborated in the final declaration of the Tianjin SCO summit held today (September 1st).

"The member states strongly condemn the military strikes by the State of Israel and the United States on the Islamic Republic of Iran in June 2025. Such an aggressive action targeting civilian facilities, including nuclear energy infrastructure, has caused civilian casualties, openly violating the principles and guidelines of international law and the UN Charter, and infringing upon the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran," it said in the document.

It also emphasized that the safety of the entire nuclear infrastructure must be ensured during armed conflicts, "to protect people and the environment from harm." In response, the SCO countries called on all parties involved in the process of resolving the Iranian nuclear program to engage in constructive dialogue and jointly seek solutions to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

As previously reported, Israel launched a military operation against Iran on the evening of June 13. Less than a day later, the Islamic Republic carried out retaliatory attacks. The United States joined the conflict nine days after the escalation, attacking Iran's nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. On the night of June 23, Iran attacked the largest U.S. airbase in the Middle East - Al-Udeid in Qatar. Afterward, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire. The ceasefire agreement came into effect on June 24.
