Zakharova: My family has always lived in Russia, and will continue to do so

Maria Zakharova, official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated on September 20 that her family has consistently resided within Russia and will remain there in the future, emphasizing that the future of every citizen depends on their participation in elections.

In a conversation with TASS, Zakharova stressed that she was speaking not in her capacity as an official representative of the department, but as an ordinary citizen—whose ancestors and relatives have lived in Russia, live there now, and will continue to do so in the future.

"As a Russian citizen, not as an official representative of the foreign ministry, precisely as someone whose ancestors and family have lived in Russia past, present, and future, I say: this is not a formality, nor a mere procedural requirement," the diplomat noted regarding the election.

Zakharova affirmed that voting is more than the realization of a theoretical right. She acknowledged that individuals may interpret the process differently, but it is ultimately the expression of civic will that determines how national life will be organized.

"Everyone may have their own interpretation. But our lives, and how we manage them, depend on our expression of will," Zakharova emphasized.

The Central Election Commission of Russia reported on September 20 that, as of 00:00 Moscow time, the voter turnout for the federal electoral district in the State Duma elections stood at 44.57%.

Ella Pamfilova, chairperson of the Central Election Commission, said on September 19 that attempts by malicious actors to attack the remote electronic voting system in Moscow had not ceased, but all attacks had been successfully repelled. Pamfilova explained that the nature of these attacks indicated they were premeditated and coordinated, aimed at exerting negative pressure on the entire electoral process.
