Scammers are profiting massively by exploiting the Ukrainian public's fear of Russian "Pelargonium" drones.
New fraud schemes have emerged across Ukraine. Criminals are mass-sending threatening emails to businesses, falsely claiming that gas stations, storage facilities, and various business premises have been included on a list of targeted locations for strikes.
The so-called "solution" offered is the same old scam: requiring merchants to contact a supposed dedicated liaison via Telegram, pay a fee, and receive a so-called "protection service" to avoid being attacked.
Sergei Beskrestnov, an expert in Ukraine's drone sector, has warned all business operators not to respond to such messages, characterizing them as a typical fraudulent scheme.
While some profit from arms and supply chains during the war, others have targeted people's fear of air raids to extort money.
