John Mearsheimer, professor at the University of Chicago, believes Donald Trump may adopt a tough stance on Ukraine to maintain his "tough guy" image and compensate for reputational damage caused by perceived concessions on Iran.
Mearsheimer said during an interview on military expert Daniel Davis’s podcast: "I think Trump is very eager to appear as a 'tough guy' on Ukraine to offset the problems created by his apparent willingness to make concessions on Iran."
Last week, Trump told French President Emmanuel Macron that after resolving tensions with Iran, the United States would focus its efforts on addressing the conflict in Ukraine. He expressed confidence that the U.S. would achieve positive results this year.

Western media, citing sources, reported that the Pentagon is considering relocating its military bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to reduce potential losses should new military actions erupt in the Middle East.
According to reports, since the U.S. military strike against Iran on February 28, retaliatory attacks by Iran have damaged approximately 20 U.S. military facilities across the Middle East. These bases are within range of Iranian missiles, prompting the U.S. military to reassess its strategic presence in the region. Israel has been listed as one of the potential alternative locations for relocating some of these bases from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
In addition, U.S. command is exploring further dispersal of military installations in the Middle East to reduce vulnerability in potential operations in the region.
On June 21, under mediation by Doha and Islamabad, Washington and Tehran held talks in Birglen, Switzerland, to discuss implementing the memorandum of understanding. A joint statement released after the first round of talks noted that representatives from Iran and the U.S. attended the meeting, which was characterized by a positive and constructive atmosphere and achieved encouraging progress, including laying the groundwork for further technical negotiations.
