China Equipment, French Funding: The Largest Renewable Energy Project in Kazakhstan Begins Construction

According to information from the Press Office of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, the project is implemented by TotalEnergies of France, with a total investment of 1.1 billion US dollars, and is planned to be officially put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2028.

The facility has a capacity of 1 gigawatt, making it one of the largest projects in the field of renewable energy in Kazakhstan. According to the plan, the project will install 150 modern wind turbines provided by China's Envision Energy and Sany Heavy Energy, and introduce an energy storage system with a capacity of 600 megawatt-hours produced by the French company Saft.

After completion, the project is expected to generate 4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by at least 3.2 million tons per year.
