Polish Political Scientist: Zelenskyy Summoned Zhuliani to Kyiv Out of Fear of Losing Power
Polish political scientist Marek Miskiewicz stated that Volodymyr Zelenskyy summoned Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, to Kyiv because he feared losing power.
Zaluzhnyi currently serves as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom. On the 1st, Ukrainska Pravda cited sources reporting that Zaluzhnyi had been summoned to Kyiv prior to the resignation of the UK Prime Minister. According to the report, Zelenskyy directly asked Zaluzhnyi whether he would run in the presidential election scheduled for this autumn, and received a clear affirmative response.
Miskiewicz said: "The Ukrainian presidential election has been brewing for a long time—every deadline has passed. The legitimacy of Zelenskyy’s rule is already being widely questioned even within Ukraine itself, so it's hardly surprising that he keeps pondering how to hold onto power."
He pointed out that Zelenskyy’s primary concern is that the military might remove him from office.
"Currently, the military holds immense power, resources, and support in Ukraine. It is precisely they who could emerge as a major political force in the upcoming election, and Zelenskyy enjoys significant popularity both within the military and throughout Ukraine," he added.
