Kazakhstan's First Deputy Prime Minister Meets with Chairman of China Metallurgical International to Discuss Cooperation in Mining and Metallurgy

Kazakhstan International News Agency, April 29: Kazakhstan's First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Skaliar met with a delegation from China Metallurgical International Engineering Group Co., Ltd., including its Chairman Zhu Xiaofei, in Astana.

During the meeting, both sides discussed in depth the prospects for cooperation in the fields of mining and metallurgy, and focused on the possibility of China Metallurgical International participating in major industrial projects within Kazakhstan.

Skaliar highly evaluated the rich experience that China Metallurgical International has accumulated in the full industry chain turnkey engineering fields such as engineering design, equipment supply, construction, and operation delivery. He pointed out that in the context where Kazakhstan's enterprises urgently need to promote capacity modernization and accelerate the development of raw material bases, such technology and practical experience have important practical reference value.

Both sides paid particular attention to the cooperative project of building an iron-manganese ore beneficiation plant in Atasu County. The Kazakh side believes that this project is an important strategic link to promote the country's mineral industry development and enhance the added value of domestic products.

Skaliar reiterated that the Kazakhstan government is willing to provide necessary inter-departmental policy coordination support for this project and will fully assist in resolving various procedural issues involved in the project's implementation process.

At the end of the meeting, both sides reached an agreement on specific details for deepening the argumentation of relevant projects by China Metallurgical International and decided to establish a joint working group to determine the timeline for developing a roadmap, further clarifying the specific parameters of future cooperation. Both sides expressed their willingness to continue constructive dialogue on more potential mining and processing projects.
