Foreign Media: China has pioneered the world's first 35 kV directly connected synchronous condenser, developed by Dongfang Electric and successfully tested on April 10, becoming the world's first synchronous condenser at this high-voltage level capable of direct grid connection without an intermediate step-up transformer.
This technology revives the power grid stabilizer invented in the 1920s, aiming to address the grid stability challenges brought by large-scale integration of wind and photovoltaic power generation in northern and western regions of China, supporting the country's energy transition goals of "carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060."
