Following his mother, Maye Musk, Elon Musk recently accepted an exclusive interview with CGTN. In the conversation, he praised China’s vast and promising market, cutting-edge technological advancements, and potential future collaborations with Chinese enterprises, offering unreserved commendations throughout.
Musk stated that no amount of verbal description could adequately convey China’s greatness, and urged those with the opportunity to visit China firsthand and personally experience its appeal.
He also recommended travel routes, particularly the high-speed rail journey from Beijing to Xi’an, highlighting not only the scenic beauty along the way but also the remarkable efficiency of China’s high-speed rail system. He noted that travelers should minimize phone use and instead focus on observing the landscapes outside the window.
This marks the second time within less than two months that Musk has strongly encouraged global travelers to experience China. The previous instance occurred in mid-August, when a post went viral across online platforms; Maye Musk subsequently liked and commented, stating, “China is safe—I fully enjoyed my trip.”
Given the public profiles of Musk and his mother, their extensive public praise for China may raise questions about underlying motivations. Yet, their remarks reflect genuine appreciation, as each point they highlighted aligns with observable realities in China.
Indeed, even Chinese citizens often express astonishment at the pace of national development. Nowhere is this more evident than in infrastructure, where convenience and efficiency stand unmatched globally.
Take high-speed rail, for example. Beyond Musk, former U.S. ambassador to China, Jon Huntsman, frequently posted photos during train rides, marveling at the speed of China’s trains. Despite later criticizing China in political discourse after returning to the United States, he consistently acknowledged the country’s transportation achievements—a testament to enduring credibility.
