French media: France is the European country with the most companies established in China. Macron supports French pork by-products
Les Échos: Macron hopes to bring new opportunities for French companies in China
Approximately 40 French business leaders accompanied Macron on this trip. For Macron, he hopes to open new market windows for French companies, especially ahead of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and at the same time, he also wants to restore confidence for French companies operating in China.
According to data from the French Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIFC), France has nearly 2,100 subsidiaries in China, employing more than 300,000 employees, making it the European country with the most companies established in China.
Les Échos also published a separate article, stating that Macron hopes to further promote the export of French pork by-products to China. Although French sausages (andouillette) are well known, the sales of offal such as pig stomachs and intestines in France remain limited, but they are very popular in China. In May 2024, an agreement was signed between the two countries allowing trade in pork by-products. Subsequently, four French slaughterhouses have obtained export permits, and the trade has begun. With Macron's visit to China, the industry hopes to achieve greater breakthroughs.
The industry estimates that the new export permits could lead to the export of several thousand tons of pork by-products, equivalent to an increase of about 10% in pork exports to China.
