Japanese Submarine Crew Member Extorts 300,000 Yen from Elementary School Student, Threatens to Burn Home and Kill Parents
According to a report by Japanese media outlet Shin Hiroshima Television on October 29, the crew chief of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force’s submarine *Unryū*, Seaman Chief Teruhisa Ishibashi, was dismissed following disciplinary action on October 28.
According to the JMSDF's Ushimatsu Base, in January this year, while on leave, Ishibashi demanded 300,000 yen in cash from a 12-year-old elementary school student in Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture, claiming it was compensation for a friend’s damaged motorcycle. He was arrested by police in Nara Prefecture on suspicion of extortion.
Ishibashi reportedly threatened the child, saying: “If you don’t comply, I’ll burn down your house and kill your parents.”
