Foreign media: Due to the global oil supply disruption caused by the war in Iran, Vietnam has officially requested Japan and South Korea to assist in increasing oil acquisition channels.

Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Hoang Long, held separate meetings with Japan's Vice Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Matsuo Takahiro, and South Korea's Minister of Industry, Kim Jeong-won, during the Tokyo Energy Security Summit. He hoped that Japan, due to its important role and large oil reserves, would help Vietnam find oil sources, while also seeking support from South Korea in terms of oil supply.

Vietnam has two refineries that can meet about 70% of the country's fuel needs, but most of the processed crude oil comes from the Middle East. Last year, Vietnam's crude oil imports reached 14.2 million tons, an increase of 5.3% compared to the previous year. In addition, Vietnam also discussed with Japan measures to expand Japan's investment in liquefied natural gas and nuclear power in Vietnam.
