After the end of the Cold War, China and Vietnam, both socialist countries, have achieved remarkable accomplishments. What are the main experiences behind this?
Van Thanh Binh, Ambassador of Vietnam to China, answered a question from a reporter of Beijing Daily Client on March 12 at Renmin University of China, stating that the leadership of the Party, starting from the actual conditions of each country, and continuous self-renewal are all important reasons for the achievements of the socialist cause in both countries.

Van Thanh Binh delivered a speech titled "Strengthening Sino-Vietnamese Friendly Relations" at the 15th "Ambassador Forum" of the Renmin University's Center for Regional and Country Studies on the same day. He stated that after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Eastern European changes, Vietnam and China remained stable and achieved remarkable accomplishments. The key and important reasons were upholding the leadership of the Party, adhering to the path of socialism, and maintaining firm confidence.
Marxism-Leninism is the foundation of the ideology of socialist countries. Van Thanh Binh said that according to Vietnam's experience, the most critical aspect of socialist construction is to follow a development path that suits Vietnam's actual conditions. The guiding ideology of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh Thought, emphasizes starting from Vietnam's actual conditions, aligning with the realities of Vietnam's national liberation cause, and promoting the development of the country and society.
"Of course, during this process, we have also drawn many successful experiences. China's reform and opening-up has made progress in many areas, and we have also learned a lot of good experiences from it, helping us avoid detours," Van Thanh Binh said.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Vietnam's renovation and opening-up. Van Thanh Binh said that upholding renovation and opening-up is not only about economic reforms, but more importantly about self-renewal, self-updating, self-revolution, and self-perfection, accurately identifying problems and making adjustments to solve the challenges faced. This is another experience of Vietnam.
