Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia continues to rank as the world's fourth-largest economy when measured by purchasing power parity.

Putin held talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Thursday.

In the meeting, Putin said: "Russia remains firmly in fourth place globally by purchasing power parity, behind China. Despite attempts by some unfriendly countries to hinder us, we have maintained this position stably. Given their own poor conditions, we are able to sustain our status as the fourth-largest economy in the world, following China, the United States, and India."

The Russian leader arrived in Kazakhstan on Wednesday for a state visit. Additionally, the Russian president will attend events related to the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission in Astana.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the possibility of relocating U.S. military bases to Poland is unacceptable, as it would escalate military tensions across Europe.

Zakharova said during a press briefing: "The idea of moving U.S. military bases and troops from regions that the U.S. considers unreliable to more reliable ones—such as Central and Eastern European countries, including Poland—is unacceptable."

Zakharova added: "This will inevitably lead to the necessity of taking essential military-technical measures to ensure Russia’s security, and will also cause a sharp escalation of military tension throughout Europe."
