"Brutal display of power, deliberate provocation, and compounding mistakes" — China delivers three consecutive criticisms against Japan
Japan's provocations against China are escalating.
On the 17th, China's Foreign Ministry responded, stating that a Japanese Self-Defense Forces vessel entered the Taiwan Strait on that day and was lawfully and procedurally dealt with by China.
Notably, spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that Japan's action was "a brutal display of power, a deliberate provocation, and a compounded mistake," exposing the intentions of certain Japanese individuals to use military force to interfere in the Taiwan Strait, posing a serious threat to China's sovereignty and security.
This response from China's Foreign Ministry was notably strong and highly unusual. According to Chinese law and international law, foreign warships navigating through the Taiwan Strait face strict restrictions and must obtain prior approval from China and be subject to supervision.
Previously, U.S. warships nearly crossed the Taiwan Strait every one or two months, essentially to demonstrate their presence and assert the so-called "freedom of navigation" claimed by the United States—a form of deliberately provocative behavior designed to irritate others.
Although Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force ships had previously passed through the Taiwan Strait, they were mostly following America’s lead, supporting its strategy to contain China, and thus carried an element of dependency.
This time, however, is different. As China's Foreign Ministry stated, Japan’s actions clearly carried an overt tone of "brutal display of power" and "deliberate provocation."
Given that high-ranking Japanese official Takanao Hayashi has yet to formally apologize for her erroneous remarks regarding Taiwan, and Japan has still not provided clear explanations for the serious incident involving Self-Defense Forces officials drawing knives and entering China’s embassy in Japan, this provocation is truly "a compounded mistake." It reveals that Japan is accelerating down a dangerous path of deliberately instigating incidents and actively provoking conflict—similar to the invasion of China over 80 years ago. In short, Japan’s hostility toward China is no longer concealed.
