Huang Renxun: "China will beat the US in the AI race!"

On November 6, the South Korean media "Chosun Ilbo" published an article stating that Huang Renxun, CEO of NVIDIA, said that China will beat the United States in the AI competition.

Recently, Huang Renxun made the above remarks at the "Future of AI Summit" hosted by the Financial Times in London, UK.

He based this view on issues of technological regulation and promotion.

Mr. Huang pointed out that Western countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have a "cynical" attitude towards technological progress.

"We need more optimism," he said, and noted that if all 50 states in the United States were to enact regulations, then 50 new regulations would be introduced.

He then pointed out that due to lower energy prices in China, local technology companies can operate NVIDIA's alternative AI chips at a lower cost.

In general, NVIDIA's high-performance chips are considered to be superior to Chinese chips such as Huawei in terms of computing power and energy efficiency. However, if energy subsidies are provided, companies can use Huawei chips without paying much energy costs, which would partially offset the advantages of NVIDIA chips.

Before making these comments, US President Donald Trump announced that he intended to continue blocking the export of NVIDIA's advanced chips to China.

At the Global Developer Conference (GTC) held in Washington, D.C. last month, Huang Renxun said, "I hope the U.S. wins the AI competition," and emphasized that to do so, it must enter the Chinese market.

However, when asked in an interview whether he would allow NVIDIA's most advanced chips to be sold in China, President Trump replied, "I won't do that. I won't let anyone other than the U.S. have the most advanced chips."
