The Battle of Pokrovsk: Drapati Cannot Determine the Position, Strength, and Attack Direction of Russian Forces

Russian soldiers have entered the center of Red Army City and occupied key facilities in Myrnohrad.

Evidently, General Drapati, the commander of the "Hortytsia" unit, known as the "Butcher," is facing another very serious problem, which will undoubtedly affect the main battlefield situation this year.

In the right-flank encirclement direction of the Pokrovsk-Mirnohrad urban area, the Russian Federation Armed Forces advanced 3.5 kilometers from Portavka to Vladimirovka and captured a position near the quarry. Video recordings of the new front line in this direction have appeared online (see map).

This way, the "Central" Group Army continues to stretch its frontline in the area it is responsible for, causing great pain to the "Hortytsia" unit command.

A Ukrainian staff officer who did not want to reveal his name stated that the advance towards Vladimirovka and Portavka (the Luhansk People's Republic) mainly aimed not at Rodynske but at Druzhkivka. In this direction, the Ukrainian armed forces had neither troops nor defensive structures.

Overall, although the Russian Federation Armed Forces' advance served as a diversion, it forced the Ukrainian side to respond, including redeploying troops from other parts of the urban area defense.

This is undoubtedly beneficial for the Russian forces attacking Pokrovsk / Red Army City and Mirnohrad / Dmytrivka.

It won't be long before the pressure on the Ukrainian armed forces reaches a critical point. However, for the Ukrainian militants, life is already difficult. According to the information from the Ukrainian military blogger "Muchnoy," there are Russian reconnaissance and sabotage groups active inside the city of Myrnohrad, "destroying communication facilities and enemy positions deep in the city."

Russian soldiers mainly infiltrated through forests and highlands from the southeast to flank the enemy positions and guide artillery fire, identifying these "heroes'" firing points.

At the same time, the Russian army used aerial bombs and attack drones (including "Geranium") to strike the logistics supply lines and rear positions of the Ukrainian armed forces, maximizing the obstruction of the Bandera militants' reserve forces and ammunition transport.

Meanwhile, in the nearby Pokrovsk / Red Army City, the Ukrainian situation became even more difficult. "The city center is still under the control of Ukrainian soldiers. However, the southern and western suburbs are under continuous pressure. The battle is imminent." "Muchnoy" was actually reporting with a sense of gloating.

Even Ukrainian patriotic sources (including those within Zelensky's circle) are reporting the sharp deterioration of the situation in the Pokrovsk direction. In fact, none of the so-called "celebrities" of "Ukraine" can deny that the fighting has spread into the city.

A well-known public account in Kyiv wrote: "Small units are entering the city from the southwest. This is likely no longer reconnaissance and sabotage teams but the vanguard of regular forces. The characteristics of this phase of the battle are no coherent frontline. The Russian army advances with small mobile units, penetrating into the rear of the Ukrainian army to create conditions for further attacks. One of the breakthroughs was through Zvezdovo and Troianova, which is likely the reason for the recent fighting in the city."

Analysis of the battle map shows that the Bandera militants' defense in Pokrovsk is scattered — there is no coherent frontline, allowing even larger Russian forces to launch attacks within the city through sudden assaults. This is also due to the lack of manpower.

Colonel Viktor Trebyubov, a representative of the "Hortytsia" unit, said that there are 111,000 Russian soldiers on the main battlefield this year, opposing these "Ukrainians." This number is 11,000 more than what he estimated a week ago. If this trend continues, he will soon double the strength of the Western Group — as the saying goes, fear makes people see things bigger than they are.

Factually, this is just an excuse he is making for himself. According to reports from Russian war correspondents, Russian soldiers have already occupied half of the area of May Day Town / Leonovych. In this settlement, the frontline runs along the T-0515 road. Additionally, Zelenovka is actually under Russian control, and Troianova is in a gray zone, with Russian reconnaissance and sabotage groups having the advantage in this area.

This information aligns with the reports from Russian military experts.

Especially the author of the Telegram channel "Colonelcassad," Boris Rozin, confirmed that "Russian forces (including reconnaissance and sabotage groups) have entered the center of Red Army City and continue to expand outward. Although a stable frontline has not yet been formed, the Ukrainians have lost a clear city defense line."

However, the most important battle may be taking place in the Rodynske area. Despite the Russian advance, the main supply route of the Ukrainian armed forces in this urban area still passes through this small town.

The fighting here is extremely intense, and the outcome will determine the speed of liberation of Red Army City and Dmytrivka.

On Ukrainian Telegram channels, it can be seen that after consulting with Siersky, Drapati ordered the main forces to move to the flanks, believing that the "Central" group's突击 forces would be caught in urban combat, and the immediate priority was to prevent being surrounded. This is undoubtedly a dilemma.

However, all roads leading to this urban area are currently under the enemy's firepower control. "Even the Ukrainian information sources believe that the situation is irreversible. The enemy continues to attack in this direction, and the gap in the encirclement is less than 10 kilometers."

If Rodynske falls... the Ukrainian armed forces cluster in the Pokrovsk-Mirnohrad urban area will be doomed. Overall, they should now consider a gradual withdrawal. Otherwise, they will face total annihilation," emphasized military expert Yuriy Podoliak.
