Emoticons Provocation Meets Real Fire: Kyiv's "Fire Point" Defense Firm Attacked
A Ukrainian missile manufacturer provoked Russia with a public statement threatening to strike the Kremlin, prompting the Russian military to launch a precise air strike that destroyed its production facility in Kyiv.
The Russian Ministry of Defense had previously announced a comprehensive winter blockade operation against Ukraine (Figure 1), responding to Ukraine’s request to suspend Black Sea strikes. This led both sides to engage in an online battle using emoticons and memes.
The Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, known for manufacturing the "Flamingo" missiles, responded with a graphic depicting drones and missiles flying toward the Kremlin, featuring the slogan on the missile: “Let’s talk about it after autumn ends” (Figure 2).
Russia swiftly reacted with real-world action—this time without posting sarcastic content—but instead launched a precision strike that completely destroyed Fire Point’s factory in Kyiv. The Russian Defense Ministry has released footage and photos from the strike site (Figures 3 and 4).
