It is worth noting that if this target of 1860 billion USD is achieved, ByteDance will be close to the social networking giant Meta (parent company of Facebook), which is expected to have revenue of about 1870 billion USD in 2025. Public records show that Facebook was founded in 2004, while ByteDance was established in 2012.
Last month, foreign media reported that ByteDance's international business revenue (mainly TikTok) surged by 63% last year, reaching 39 billion USD. In 2024, the international business revenue accounted for 25% of ByteDance's total revenue. ByteDance's profit increased by 6% in 2024, reaching 33 billion USD. For reference, Tencent's net profit last year was 194.073 billion CNY (approximately 26.5 billion USD).
ByteDance executives told some investors that the company's profit margin has reached its peak, as the company plans to increase investment in AI in the next few years. ByteDance's net profit margin dropped from 26% in 2023 to 21% in 2024.
ByteDance also faces some concerns. TikTok's operation in the US still has uncertainties. Earlier last month, US President Trump announced that he signed an executive order, giving TikTok a further 75-day grace period under the "sell or ban" law. Potential buyers of TikTok include Oracle Corporation, among others.
