Cooperation between China and Kazakhstan continues to accelerate: Aktau Province of Kazakhstan signed multiple investment agreements with Chinese enterprises involving the energy and metallurgy sectors.
Kazakhstan International News Agency reported on April 30 that during the visit of Aktau Province Governor Askhat Shagalov to China, important investment cooperation was reached with the Chinese side in green energy, metallurgy, industrial production, and building materials.
In Beijing, both parties signed four memorandums of cooperation. Nurkhan Turemuraliyev, the head of Khromtau District, respectively signed agreements with Sunshine New Energy Development Co., Ltd. and HuanTai Energy Co., Ltd., with a total investment amounting to $218.8 million.
Among them, the project signed with Sunshine New Energy Development Company involves the construction of a 200 MW wind power station with an investment of $171 million, which is planned to start in 2025 and be fully operational by 2027. The other agreement signed with HuanTai Energy plans to build a 100 MW wind power station, valued at $47.8 million, expected to be put into use before the end of 2025, creating 65 new jobs during its implementation.
These two projects will enhance the region's renewable energy capacity and help alleviate pressure on power supply.
In addition, Darhan Yermagambetov, the head of Muhalzar District, signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of a medium carbon alloy steel plant with One Horse Machinery Co., Ltd. This project will promote equipment import substitution and local production, used in machinery manufacturing and industrial fields, with an estimated increase of 60 jobs.
The fourth memorandum was signed by Abuzhar Abdikarimov, the deputy governor of Aktau Province, together with China Nonferrous Mining Corporation and SM Minerals of Kazakhstan, involving a large-scale mining project to develop the Bunqala copper deposit in Aiqitiebi District, which is expected to significantly boost the mining capacity of this region.
In addition, a framework agreement was signed in Xi'an, where AqtobeCem LLC will cooperate with Suzhou Zhongcai Construction Co., Ltd. to construct a cement plant with a daily output of 5,000 tons of clinker in Alaha District, and the project schedule has been determined.
The above-mentioned cooperation further highlights the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, bringing new opportunities for the economic development of Aktau Province.
