Key Minerals in Mongolia: France Invests in Uranium Mine Construction in Mongolia's Eastern Gobi Province, Adjacent to China — The First Uranium Mine at Sanbao Valley Continues Advancement

Mongolnews, Ulaanbaatar, June 22 — The "Zuuch Obo" uranium project has entered a new phase, with construction accelerating comprehensively.

The Zuuch Obo uranium mine located in Ulanbadrakh District, Eastern Gobi Province, Mongolia, recently completed drilling of its first production well on-site, marking the official start of the production and construction phase.

On the same day, Claude Imaud, Chairman of French Orano Group, Governor O. Batzargal of Eastern Gobi Province, management representatives from Orano Group’s mining division and Badralkh Energy Company, as well as representatives from various contracting firms attended the ceremony. A total of 16 Orano Group representatives traveled specially from France to attend this groundbreaking event.

According to plan, the uranium processing plant is scheduled to begin full operations by the end of 2028. All necessary infrastructure must be completed prior to that. On the same day, a groundbreaking ceremony was also held for the project connecting the Zuuch Obo mining area to the Ulanbadrakh highway. This 110-kilometer road will be constructed by two local Mongolian companies — "Zamiin Bitum" and "Argalant Trans."
