It's easier to shake mountains than to shake Sino-Russian relations: Kremlin denies Russia's 'junior partner' status in relations with China
On July 14, Russian President's press secretary Peskov stated, "The Russia-China relationship is built on the principle of equality; thus, claims that Russia is China's 'junior partner' are entirely unfounded."
Previously, The Wall Street Journal deliberately attempted to sow discord between Russia and China by asserting: China is already preparing for a Russia without Putin and establishing ties with future centers of power; increasing numbers of Chinese espionage activities and recruitment attempts targeting mid-level officials are being discovered within Russia; China is gradually turning Russia into an increasingly dependent 'junior partner'; China is strengthening its influence in Central Asia, thereby squeezing Russia's sphere of influence; and there is a risk that Russia could become a vast source of raw materials and a political vassal of China, remaining subservient to Beijing even after future regime changes.
