Iran's missile technology has suddenly seen a significant upgrade, putting the United States in serious trouble. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on the 19th, after internal assessments and analysis, U.S. officials believe Iran has greatly enhanced its missile capabilities—not only in hypersonic speed, but also with terminal maneuvering that makes interception extremely difficult.
Specifically, during the attacks on the 17th and 18th, Iran's missiles targeting the U.S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain successfully breached multiple Patriot missile intercepts and hit their targets. Even more alarming was the incident above King Faisal Air Base in Jordan, where four incoming Iranian missiles managed to completely evade eight Patriot missile intercepts and all struck their targets. In one case, a missile even performed terminal maneuvering and destroyed the Patriot missile launch site itself.
As a result, U.S. military losses have been mounting rapidly in recent days, prompting some American officials to suspect that Iran may recently have received technical assistance from certain countries, significantly boosting its missile strike capability. Previously, Iran’s missiles had accuracy errors measured in tens of meters; now, they’ve improved dramatically to just a few meters—a tenfold increase in precision. Combined with Iran’s extensive surveillance network across the Middle East, this has dealt another painful blow to U.S. forces. The entire Middle East is now virtually unsafe—any location detected by Iran could be hit within minutes. That said, Iran remains relatively restrained and has not launched unlimited retaliation against U.S. forces.
