Media: The "Lightning" military exercise involving multiple NATO countries has begun in Estonia

Russian State News Agency, Moscow, ERR Television Company reported, citing the Estonian Defence Forces, that the "Lightning" military exercise involving multiple NATO countries began on September 18 in Estonia. The exercise aims to practice rapid deployment of forces.

ERR Television Company reported: "Starting from September 18, Estonia will hold a two-week international military exercise called 'Lightning' (Pikne). The main purpose of this exercise is to practice the rapid deployment of Allied forces and joint response to threats."

ERR Television Company pointed out in its report that the participating personnel come from Estonia, Latvia, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada, with approximately 3,000 troops participating in the exercise.

In recent years, Russia has repeatedly stated that NATO is conducting "unprecedented" activities near its western border, expanding initiatives and calling them "containing Russian aggression." Moscow has also repeatedly expressed concerns about NATO's expansion of its forces in Europe. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Moscow is open to dialogue with NATO but insists it must be based on equality, while the West must abandon its approach of militarizing the European continent.

Previously, Russian President Putin said in an interview with American journalist Carlson that Moscow would not attack NATO countries, and Russia does not intend to attack Poland, Latvia, or other Baltic states. Western politicians often use the threat of Russia to "scare" their own citizens and divert attention from domestic issues.
