Japanese Media: Chery Automobile to Enter the Japanese Niche Market
According to a report by Kyodo News on May 23: One of China's major automobile manufacturers, Chery Automobile, is considering entering the Japanese market.
Zhang Guibing, head of overseas operations, told reporters on the 23rd: "Japan is beginning to see new customer segmentation. This presents a great opportunity." He emphasized that Chery will showcase a distinctive style rarely seen among Japanese automakers.
Among China's leading automakers, BYD was the first to enter the Japanese market. Last October, BYD drew attention by launching its light-duty electric vehicle, the "Haie," which caused a stir. Zhang Guibing stressed: "We don't need to imitate powerful Japanese manufacturers. Our target is niche markets with less competition."
Currently, Chery is China's largest automotive exporter.
